Meet somewhere with people in it
Daylight, somewhere public, and somewhere you can leave. Many police stations have a marked exchange bay for exactly this, and a supermarket car park at midday is the next best thing. When you agree a place in a deal room we suggest the nearest of these.
- Tell somebody where you are going and when you expect to be back.
- Take somebody with you for anything large or expensive.
- If it must be at a home, bring a second person and do not go inside.
Look before you pay
Take the time. Plug it in, start it, check the serial. A seller who is rushing you is telling you something. With payment protection the money is held until you say yes, so there is no reason to hurry.
Pay through Classiry
We hold the money until the buyer confirms, and a buyer has 48 hours from collection to raise a problem. A bank transfer, a gift card or a cryptocurrency payment has none of that and cannot be reversed. See Payment protection.
Signs worth stopping for
- A deposit requested before you have met.
- A push to continue on another app.
- A price far below what the same thing sells for, with a reason attached.
- A seller who cannot send an extra photo of the thing they say they are holding.
- A story: overseas, a shipper, a relative collecting.

If something happens
Raise it in the deal room, where the messages and the offers already are. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first, then tell us in a ticket.
