Payment protection
When a buyer pays through Classiry, the money does not go to the seller. It comes to us and stays with us until the buyer has the item in their hands and says they are happy.
1. How it works
- The price is agreed in the deal room.
- The buyer pays Classiry. The seller can see the money is there and cannot touch it.
- You meet. Take as long as you want to look at the thing.
- The buyer confirms. The seller is paid, usually within twenty minutes.
If the buyer never confirms and never raises a problem, the money releases automatically at the end of the inspection window. It is not held indefinitely, and it is never quietly kept.
2. What is covered
- Not as described — materially different from the listing.
- Never arrived — the seller did not appear, or did not hand it over.
- Counterfeit — sold as genuine and not.
- Missing parts — where the listing said they were included.
In each case the buyer is refunded in full, including any fee they paid.
3. What is not
- A change of mind. That is between the two of you.
- Faults that were described. A listing that said "no reverse gear" said so.
- Anything paid outside Classiry. A transfer, cash on the day, or another app leaves nothing to hold, and nothing to refund. This is why we flag it when someone suggests it.
4. Raising a problem
Say no at the door and the money goes back the same day. After collection there are 48 hours to raise it in the deal room. We read the messages, the offers and the Shield report on the listing, which is the reason all of it lives in one place.
5. What it means for a seller
You are paid by us, not by a stranger, so a reversed transfer or a bounced payment is not your problem. Listings with protection switched on attract more offers, because the buyer is not the one carrying the risk. See Trust levels for what unlocks it.
